The Whiskey Wreck sits about 150 yards of the beach on the west end of Gulf Shores. It is an excellent and very accessible beach dive under the right conditions. There is excellent parking next to Bahama Bob's Shipwreck Cafe. This steel hulled vessel is said to be an old "Rum Runner" and is approximately 200 feet in length. The wreck sits in approximately 15 to 25 feet of water. Dive it high tide for the best possible visibility and do not attempt to dive it when there is surf present. Breaking waves create rip currents that can be very dangerous for divers and swimmers. |
